IndianOil conferred ‘Business Super brand 2008’
IndianOil has been conferred the ‘Business Superbrand 2008’ status by the Superbrands Council of India. The coveted ‘Business Superbrand’ award was presented by the Chief Guest, Mr. L. K. Advani, former Dy. Prime Minister & Leader of the Opposition, to Mr. N. Srikumar, Executive Director (Corporate Communications, Branding & Planning), IndianOil, in the presence of Mr Anmol Dar, Chairman, Superbrands Council of India, at an impressive function recently. This is the second consecutive year that IndianOil has bagged this prestigious recognition.
The selection of the ‘Business Superbrand’ is a rigorous two-tier process, which comprises a consumer survey through which Corporates are first short-listed, followed by evaluation by the Superbrands Council (consisting of leaders from corporate houses and advertising field) against set benchmarks such as market dominance, market acceptancy, goodwill, customer loyalty, etc. and finally selecting the Business Superbrands for the coveted award.
This year more than 27,000 people participated in the consumer survey. The response was so overwhelming that the ‘Superbrands’ website collapsed and had to be resuscitated by increasing the allotted bandwidth. Public scoring makes Superbrands very special. Brands conferred the Superbrand status reflect the will of the people and the views of the country’s most outstanding marketing and brand management professionals. The Superbrand status, therefore, is a very desirable accolade to possess and regarded as the ‘Oscars’ of Branding.
