IndianOil conferred SAP ACE Award 2008 for B2B process Integration
Indian Oil Corporation Limited has received the SAP ACE – Awards for Customer Excellence for the year 2008 at Bengaluru on September 15, 2008. It has bagged the award for the third consecutive year for B2B Process Integration for carrying out 'Exchanges' with oil marketing company, BPCL.
IndianOil is the only company in India who has picked up this award year after year since the inception of the award by M/s SAP.
The project, initiated and pioneered by IndianOil is an attempt by India's three largest organizations IndianOil, BPCL and ONGC using SAP software to leverage their investment in SAP's ERP software and build robust cross company business processes with SAP's new dimension product XI Software powered by SAP's new NetWeaver technology.
Phase I consists of rolling down B2B Oil Exchanges between SAP systems of IndianOil and M/s BPCL. IndianOil, as a part of its business process, transacts with M/s BPCL for sale, purchase, hospitality of petroleum products. These transactions are known as exchanges. Exchanges are done throughout the country to optimise supply of petroleum products in regions where one organisation does not have its own source of supply.
The primary motivation for undertaking the project was to bring down the high cost associated delay in reconciliation of joint certificates. Worked out by Corporate Business Technology Centre of IndianOil, this has facilitated a process of prudent financial management.
