The R&D Centre was recently awarded the
'Golden Peacock Innovative Product Award", which is its fifth consecutive
honour acknowledging its different scientific applications. Dr. R. K. Malhotra,
ED (R&D) and Dr. D. K. Tuli, GM (AE), received the award from Justice Dr
Arijit Pasayat, Chairman, Competition Appellate Tribunal, India, at a
glittering ceremony held during May 28-29, 2010 during the 12th World Congress
on Environment Management in New Delhi. Comprising a plaque and certificate,
the award was instituted by the Institute of Directors, a nonprofit
organisation. Other dignitaries like Dr. Kriti Parkeh, Former Member, Planning
Commission, Mr. Mehra, IOD and Mr. Ram Jetmalani were also present during the
occasion.
While addressing the gathering, Dr. Malhotra said, "IndianOil always thinks and
acts green and strives to continuously develop and commercialise greener
technologies". He further urged and encouraged the scientists to come up with
more such innovative ideas and products that could prove to be beneficial to
the environment.
The award recognises the OiliVourous technology developed by the R&D Centre
to mitigate and eradicate oil bearing soil and sludge by use of specialised
bacteria that eats into the hydrocarbons. It is in use at different locations
of IndianOil, especially in its various refineries along with its Marketing and
Pipelines locations.
