
IndianOil received the prestigious 'Oil Industry Safety Directorate (OISD) Awards' for the year 2009-10 and 2010-11. Mr. RS Butola, Chairman,Mr.R K Ghosh, Director (Refineries), and Mr. VS Okhde, Director (Pipelines), along with Mr. Ashwani Sharma, ED (O), Ref. HQ, Mr. Sanjiv Singh, ED (Panipat) and Mr. Sunil Kumar, DGM (F&S) received the honours on behalf of the Corporation at a glittering function held at Hotel Taj Palace in New Delhi.
The awards were presented by Mr. S Jaipal Reddy, Hon’able Union Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas , recognising the efforts of the oil and natural gas industries in enhancing safety performance of the oil installations thereby improved productivity, profitability and sustainability. The other dignitaries present were Mr. R.P.N. Singh, Hon’ble Minister of State of Petroleum & Natural Gas and Corporate Affairs, Govt. of India and Mr. G.C. Chaturvedi, Secretary of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Govt. of India.
IndianOil’s Panipat Refinery bagged the ‘Best Safety Performer Award’ under the ‘Refinery Category’. IOCians from Panipat Refinery - Mr. Biju Shah (SPNE), Mr. Gainda Singh (JAE), Mr. Chandrajit Singh (JEA), Mr. Biswas Bag (JEA), Mr. Daroga Prajapati (JEA) bagged five awards in the ‘Individual Contribution towards Safety’ category.
Paradip-Haldia-Barauni Pipeline (PHBPL) and Salaya-Mathura Pipeline (SMPL) received the award for ‘Overall Best Safety Performance’ in the cross country crude oil pipelines category. Mr.Butola, Mr. V. S. Okhde, Director (Pipelines), Mr. J.P. Ojha, ED (Operations), Mr. Anish Aggarwal, ED (WRPL) and Mr. H.S. Pati, ED (ERPL) received the award.
Mathura Refinery also received the award for the ‘Second Best Overall Safety Performance’ for the year 2009-10. Mr M K Padia, ED, received the award along with Mr. Butola and Mr. Ghosh.
Oil Industry Safety Awards' have been instituted by Government of India, to encourage the 'Outstanding Safety Performance' in the Oil & Gas Industry. A number of parameters, such as complexity of the process employed, volumes handled, man-hours worked, incidents of fires & accidents, safety management system are evaluated to decide the winners. IndianOil recently also bagged two national level awards viz. OGCF-2011 First Prize in the category ‘Steam Consumption upto 0.6 MT per MT of Crude Oil processed’ and Jawaharlal Nehru Centenary Award 2010-11 - Second prize for Specific Energy Consumption (Composite Energy factor more than 5).
