IndianOil bags the 'Oil and Gas Corporate of the Year' Award

At the first PetroFed Oil and Gas Industry Award function held on March 21, 2008, Mr Sarthak Behuria, Chairman and Mr G C Daga, Director ( Marketing), received the 'Oil and Gas Corporate of the Year Award', on behalf of IndianOil. The award was presented by Mr Murli Deora, Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, in the presence of leading luminaries of the oil industry at Mumbai.

IndianOil was also awarded the 'Project Management (Rs 500-Rs 5000 crore) for Gujarat Refinery and the 'Team Award' for IndianOil R&D Team led by Dr. R.K.Malhotra. The 'The Innovator of the Year (Individual) Award' was presented to Mr Nab Kumar Kalita, Master Technician (Guwahati Refinery) who received a cash prize of Rs 2 lakh along with a trophy and citation.

Mr M.S. Srinivasan, Petroleum Secretary, in his presidential address, lauded the role of the oil industry in the growth of the economy and the awards. Mr Srinivasan added that these awards will spur a competitive fervor amongst the oil industry corporates. Mr A.K.Arora, Director General, PetroFed said that the awards presented for performance for the year 2006-07 were rigorously evaluated on the criteria developed along with their knowledge partner PricewaterhouseCoopers. The five-member awards committee was headed by Dr. Sudipto Ghosh, Senior Fellow, TERI and former Secretary, Govt of India and their recommendations were ratified by a jury headed by Hon'ble Mr. Justice J.S.Verma, former Chief Justice of India.

PetroFed acts as an oil industry interface with Government, regulatory authorities, public and representatives bodies of traders and helps in resolution of issues and facilitates evolution of hydrocarbons related policies and regulations and their implementation. It represents the industry on Government bodies, committees & task forces.

Some of the main functions of PetroFed include promoting the interests of petroleum industry, functioning as a facilitator for the oil industry in India, working for global competitiveness of the petroleum industry and optimising resources and integration efforts.

PetroFed instituted the oil and gas industry awards to recognise the contribution made by corporates and individuals in creating leadership and to recognise, nurture and nourish excellence in the oil and gas industry in India. There are eleven awards in nine categories to recognise and celebrate the leaders, innovators and pioneers for their outstanding achievements.
