Management of any organization is responsible for delivering a return on the resources provided by the owners or shareholders. To maximize return on net assets there must be a synergy between the affecting functions of plant and equipment design, procurement, commissioning, plant operations and plant maintenance. This is the scope of effective plant reliability management, and the purpose for strategic plant reliability management is to link reliability to financial and Competitive results.
The course illustrates, based on developments in maintenance theory and practices, the impact of equipment availability and reliability on competitiveness. The main aspects covered are: maintenance policy impact on site operation, reliability process implementation and follow-up, overall cost of failure, shutdown management and continuous improvement plan implementation through setting goals and performance rating. Main objectives will be
- To understand trends in maintenance policy (TPM, RCM, RBI, ...)
- How to set goals in terms of overall site performance and not only in terms of maintenance budget
- Understand reliability analysis and improvement techniques
- Know the conditions for successful management of unit turnarounds, including implementation of a subcontracting plan
