    A method to determine feasibility of transporting a fluid is described. The method comprises receiving fluid parameters of a fluid to be transported and computing a final end temperature of the fluid at an exit of at least one segment of a pipeline, based on the fluid parameters and on heat generated due to friction. The method further comprises determining whether transporting the fluid through the pipeline is feasible, based at least on the final end temperature. A feasibility parameter is accordingly adjusted, based on the determination, to make transportation of the fluid feasible.
  • Extraction of Aromatics from hydrocarbon oil using n-methyl 2-pyrrolidone and cosolvent extraction process
    The present invention provides a process for extraction of aromatic material from hydrocarbon oil by using a solvent mixture comprising N-Methyl-2-Pyrrolidone (NMP), at least one co-solvent and optionally water, to obtain a raffinate.The process of the present invention lowers operating cost as the cost of the cosolvent employed is lower than that of neat NMP. Another feature of the present invention is that it produces the same quality raffinate as those of neat NMP-water measured by the refractive index but produces higher yield of raffinate at same feed to solvent mixture ratio.

An external heavy metal contaminated disposed spent fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) catalyst comprising heavy metals like nickel and vanadium etc. is directly used in part to a circulating catalyst inventory of a FCC unit processing. The disclosed combination of catalyst mixture has the advantage of reducing sulfur content in FCC products. And also there is utilization of the spent or waste catalyst.

  • Composition of high performance semi-synthetic, bio-stable and operator friendly soluble cutting oil
    The invention disclosed herein relates to a high performance semi-synthetic bio-stable and operator friendly soluble cutting oil composition for metal working applications comprising high viscosity index spindle oil, an amine, a fatty acid, an ester, a biocide, a co-solvent, a corrosion inhibitor, emulsifiers and water. The disclosed composition forms milky emulsion with water and it can be employed for metalworking operations like cutting. The disclosed composition is particularly suitable for milling, drilling, turning operations in automatic CNC machines as well as manual machining operations. It has excellent bio-stability and cooling characteristics. It also has very good corrosion protection properties even against hard water and water containing high chloride content with emulsion stability. The composition is free from chlorine, boron, active sulphur, phosphorous additives which are not treated as environment and operator friendly. The composition is suitable of machining of ferrous and non ferrous metals like aluminium etc.

    The present invention relates to a process for selective removal of mercaptan from aviation turbine fuel (ATF) feed comprising: mixing aviation turbine fuel feed with hydrogen, at a pressure in range of 3 bar to 20 bar to obtain a reaction mixture, heating the reaction mixture at a temperature range of 150°C to 350°C to obtain a heated mixture, reacting the heated mixture with a hydrotreating catalyst in a rector to obtain a reactor effluent, stripping H2S gas from the reactor effluent to obtain a stripper bottom product, and removing moisture from the stripper bottom product to obtain aviation turbine fuel product having less than 10 ppm mercaptan. The process of present invention also improves properties such as colour, acidity etc. of other products. The present invention further relates to an aviation turbine fuel product having less than 10 ppm mercaptan prepared by a process of the present invention. The process of present invention is flexible and can be employed for a grass root unit or retrofitting existing unit.
  • Composition of oil for high speed thin and thick gauge steel sheet rolling in Tandem Mills
    The invention relates to a composition of oil suitable for steel sheet rolling. This oil is comprised of natural fats/oils, synthetic esters, high viscosity index premium quality mineral oils and other performance additives such as extreme pressure, antiwear, emulsifiers, dispersant, antioxidants etc. The oil composition forms metastable oil-in-water emulsion with slight to moderate agitation. The said oil composition provides satisfactory rolling performance for thin gauge as well as thick gauge steel sheet rolling in Tandem Rolling Mills. It has excellent lubricity and metastability of rolling oil emulsion for cold rolling application. Several optimum properties of emulsion e.g., metastability of emulsion, oil separation, emulsion stability index (ESI), emulsifiers ratio and concentration are found to be responsible for the required lubrication, rolling and reduction of steel sheet.

    An apparatus (100) for catalytic cracking of feedstock includes a first channel (102) in which a feedstock is treated with an adsorbent to obtain a treated intermediate. The apparatus further comprises a separator-reactor vessel (104). The separator-reactor vessel (104) includes an adsorbent separating region (112) to remove the adsorbent from the treated intermediate. The separator-reactor vessel (104) further includes a second channel (114) connected to the adsorbent separating region(112). The treated intermediate is contacted with a catalyst in the second channel (114) to produce a cracking yield. The second channel (114) terminates in a catalyst separating region (116) of the separator-reactor vessel (104). The catalyst is removed from the cracking yield in the catalyst separating region (116). The separator-reactor vessel (104) further includes a physical partition (144) disposed between the adsorbent separating region (112) and the catalyst separating region (116) to separate the two regions.
  • A two stage gasifier for generating syngas
    The present subject matter describes a gasification system (100) for gasifying a variety of feedstocks. A first stage gasifier (105) receives a feedstock either from a first group of feedstocks or a second group of feedstocks or both. The first stage gasifier decomposes the received feedstock to produce a first product. A second stage gasifier (115) is connected to the first stage gasifier (105) for receiving the first product. In addition, the second stage gasifier (115) receives a feedstock either from a third group of feedstocks or a fourth group of feedstocks or both. The second stage gasifier (115) gasifies the first product and the received feedstock to produce syngas.
  • Metal passivator additive & process for preparing
    The present invention relates to a metal passivator additive comprising: a rare earth component; alumina; clay; colloidal silica; and a zeolite having high silica to alumina ratio. The present invention also relates to a process for preparing a metal passivator additive, said process comprising: preparing a rare earth slurry by mixing rare earth component with water; obtaining an alumina gel by treating alumina slurry with an acid, wherein the alumina slurry is prepared by mixing alumina and water; mixing the alumina gel and the rare earth slurry to obtain a slurry mixture; adding a colloidal silica to the slurry mixture; preparing a clay slurry by mixing clay and a dispersant; combining the clay slurry and the slurry mixture to obtain a rare earth-binder-filler slurry; obtaining an additive precursor slurry by mixing a zeolite having high silica to alumina ratio, to the rare earthbinder-filler slurry; spray-drying the additive precursor slurry to obtain a spray-dried product; and calcining the spray-dried product to obtain the metal passivator additive.
  • Value added Catalytic Cracking Catalyst Composition and a process for preparation thereof
    A composition of a value added RFCC catalyst and a process of preparation of a composition for a dual function additive catalyst from a spent catalyst are disclosed. The value added spent FCC catalyst offers improved performance, options such as either employing as an additive for passivation of both vanadium and nickel and enhancing catalytic activity, for initial start-up or make-up for attrition losses. The value addition process does not harm any of physical properties of starting material with respect to ABD, attrition index, surface area and particle size distribution. Value added catalyst can be used in a range from 1-99 wt% in fluid catalytic cracking process in which, feeds may have higher metals and carbon.

  • Two stage fluid catalytic cracking apparatus & process for production of different hydrocarbons
    A two stage Fluid Catalytic Cracking process and an apparatus for simultaneous production of light olefins such as ethylene and propylene and middle distillate range hydrocarbons, wherein a first flow reactor, preferably a downer and a second flow reactor, preferably a riser are operating at varying reaction severities using different catalyst systems with the regenerated catalyst entering the reactors inlet through independent regenerators. Mild cracking of the fresh feedstock is carried out in the first flow reactor of short residence time and the effluent of first flow reactor is separated in an intermediate separator/ fractionator followed by re-cracking of the C4 hydrocarbons and naphtha range hydrocarbons, preferably C5-150°C from the second product separation section and unconverted hydrocarbons (370°C +) of first flow reactor, in the second flow reactor at higher severity employing different catalyst system.
  • A Process for the removal of metals from vegetable oils & animal fats
    The invention describes process for demetallation of vegetable oils and animal fats to reduce metal content below 1 ppm to make them suitable for hydroprocessing feedstocks. The process comprises acid treatment with very low concentration of acids, utilizing synergistic effect of phosphoric acid and citric acid, followed by counter-current treatment with clay without intermediate step of water washing and treatment with ion exchange resin.
  • A Reactor design for gas to liquid (GTL) processes
    This invention relates to an apparatus and a process for conversion of syngas into one or more hydrocarbons in presence of Fisher- Tropsch catalyst comprising in-situ catalyst activation in a separate fluid bed reactor. Activation is carried out in the dry phase in flowing hydrogen atmosphere in fluidised condition in a separate fluid bed reactor. The activated catalyst is transferred to the main slurry reactor with flowing hydrogen. Filters are provided outside the slurry reactor and separated wax product is recycled back to the reactor.
  • Integrated process for deep desulfurization of diesel with reduced hydrogen consumption
    The present invention relates to a novel process for desulfurization of diesel with reduced hydrogen consumption. More particularly the subject invention pertains to an integrated process comprising diesel hydro de-sulfurisation (DHDS) or diesel hydrotreatment (DHDT) with reduced severity to desulfurize high sulfur (1.0-2.0 wt%) diesel stream to a much lower level of sulfur content of 350 - 500 ppm in the depleted diesel stream, followed by a novel adsorption procedure for effecting deep desulfurization to reduce overall sulfur content to less than 10 ppm with reduced hydrogen consumption, as compared to high severity DHDS or DHDT procedures of the prior art.
  • High performance gear lubricant with enhanced drain potential for heavy duty commercial vehicles
    The invention discloses a high performance gearbox lubricant oil for heavy duty commercial vehicles, typically buses with city stop-and-go operations. The invented lubricant is an oil composition made from two base oils and a set of additive combination. One base oil is a 10 paraffinic base oil belonging to API GP-I category having viscosity of 27-34 cSt at 100°C, and the second base oil is highly paraffinic API Gp-II base oil having a viscosity range of 8-12 cSt. This oil composition has a drain interval of about 80,000 kms, which is double the drain interval of conventional oils for similar applications. In and after use, the lubricant retains its viscosity in the SAE 80W-90 grade, which is same as that of fresh lubricant. The lubricant is compatible with 15 other sources of oils meant for similar applications to eliminate separation and sedimentation of additives in case of a mix up. A process for producing this lubricant is also disclosed. The process comprises of mechanical stirring and controlled heating while mixing the additives with the base oils.
  • Composition of ecofriendly oil for jute batching application
    The invention discloses a composition of oil for the jute industry, particularly for jute batching application. The composition is free from PAH compounds, hence is non-carcinogenic. It is made from highly refined premium quality mineral base oil, mixed with carefully selected additives as emulsifiers. These are mixed to yield a readily emulsifiable product. It is further mixed with water for instantaneously preparing an oil-in-water emulsion which is sprayed on raw jute. The composition is bio-degradable, hence eco-friendly, non-toxic and results in lower consumption (>20%) as compared to existing products. It has non-ionic emulsifiers, it is colourless and odourless and is suitable for producing jute products meeting as per international requirements.
  • Process for deep desulfurization of cracked gasoline with minimum octane loss
    The present invention provides a process for deep desulphurisation of cracked gasoline with minimum octane loss of about 1-2 units. In this process full range cracked gasoline from FCC, coker, visbreaker etc is sent to Diolefin saturation reactor for selective saturation of diolefins. After saturation of diolefins, the stream is sent to splitter for splitting into three cuts i.e.., Light Cut (IBP-70c), intermediate cut (70-90c) and Heavy cut (90-120). The light cut which contains majority of the high octane olefins and mercaptan sulfur is desulfurised with caustic treatment using continuous film contactor. The sulfur in the intermediate cut is also predominantly mercaptans and the cut can be desulfurised by caustic treatment using CFC along with light cut or separately desulfurised before being sent for isomerisation. The heavy cut containing mainly thiophinic sulfur compounds is treated either by using conventional HDS process or reactive adsorption process.
  • Bio-augmentation composition and use thereof for improving efficiency of effluent treatment plant /hydrocarbon processing plant
    The present invention provides a bio-augmentation composition for improving the hydrocarbon degradation efficiency of effluent treatment plant for hydrocarbon degradation in wastewater generated from hydrocarbon processing industry and a method thereof. The composition comprises a synergistic combination of selective microorganisms to develop a consortium enabling effective degradation of hydrocarbons present in wastewater and converting thereof into harmless and environment friendly substances. The invention also provides for the said microorganisms and their isolations.
  • A process for production of C3 olefins in a fluid catalytic cracking unit
    A process for increasing the yield of C3 olefin in fluidized bed catalytic cracking of hydrocarbon feedstocks is disclosed. C4 fraction produced from the cracking of hydrocarbon feedstock in the primary reaction zone (riser), optionally with external source of C4 stream is fed into the stripper which acts as a secondary reaction zone at an elevated temperature and at an optimum WHSV. The elevated temperature is achieved by injecting a part of the regenerated catalyst from regenerator, which is at a higher temperature, directly into the stripper through a dedicated additional lift line. This raises the activity of catalyst inside the stripper.
  • A process for algal mediated transformation of sugars to biodiesel
    The present invention provides a cost effective biotechnological process for production of bio-fuels from isolated and characterized microalgae. The algae strains used in the present invention having higher biomass, higher lipid productivity, higher pH and temperature tolerance are selected from the group consisting of Chlorella vulgaris iOC-1, Chlorella vulgaris iOC-2, Chlorella kessleri, Botrococcus bruni, Dunaliella salina and Nannochloris oculat or a combination thereof having 95-100% similarity with 18s ribosomal nucleic acids nucleotide sequences (rDNA) given for Seq.ID1, Seq.ID2, Seq.ID3, Seq.ID4, Seq.ID5 and Seq.ID6. The present process of bio-fuel production comprises the steps of producing lipid from green algae in bioreactors by various novel steps and extracting oil from dried algal cells and ultimately producing biodiesel by transesterification of the said extracted oil.
  • A process for enhancing nickel tolerance of heavy hydrocarbon cracking catalysts
    The invention discloses a process for upgrading feed streams containing residual fractions with high concentrations of metals, more specifically nickel content up to 150 ppm employing acidic catalysts comprising large pore rare earth faujasite zeolite component, pentasil zeolite component and pseudoboehemite containing resid cracking component while the composite is impregnated with lanthanum oxide or aluminium oxide or mixture of both. The hydrocarbon feed stock can be sourced from either petroleum derivatives or from coal, tar or sand. The process results in increased selectivity of propylene in LPG in the range of 39-52%.
  • A process for metal reduction of hydrocarbon oil
    A novel process for metal content reduction of hydrocarbon oil is disclosed, which is primarily aimed at reduction of vanadium and nickel. The process uses electricity to accelerate the demetallation process, but only the flow of electrons of the electric current is used to expedite the reaction, instead of the electrolysis effect of the electric current. The process is carried out by adding inter-phase surface active reagent and phase transfer catalyst at a relatively low temperature range of 80 to 200.degree. C. and achieves metal content reduction for vanadium and nickel. Aqueous phase alcoholic derivatives of amine solution is treated with hydrogen sulfide, carbon dioxide, etc. by additive reaction to render it more suitable for carrying more electric current and make them more active for metal reduction.
  • Reactor Assembly for improving reaction between two immiscible phases for metal reduction of hydrocarbons
    A reactor assembly (1) for improving reaction between two immiscible phases for metal reduction of hydrocarbons is disclosed, which is a modification of a CSTR type reactor assembly. A third gaseous phase is also present in the reactor. Metal plates (5) are provided, mounted on supporting rods (6) which are electrically insulated from the rest of the reactor. The metal plates are made of the same metal to avoid detachment of metal atoms from metal plates. The metal plates serve as the means of transferring only the electrons from the metal plates to the liquids in which they are fully immersed, so that the reaction is made more efficient.
  • Novel adsorbent for removal of sulphur from diesel & gasoline like fuels & process for preparing the same
    A novel nano structured adsorbent composition for removal of sulphur from diesel and gasoline like fuel is disclosed. It is capable of removal of sulphur by reactive adsorption from most refractory sulfur species of diesel- and gasoline-like fuels. The process of sulphur removal is carried out under hydrogen environment. The sulphur content of the treated fuel comes down to less than 5 ppm.
  • Improved deasphalting process for production of feedstocks for dual applications
    The invention concerns with improved and more flexible deasphalting process for production of lube oil base stock as well as feed stock for secondary processes depending on requirement from heavy residual hydrocarbon oil containing saturates, aromatics, resins and asphaltenes etc by contacting the oil with a solvent comprising of hydrocarbon containing two to six carbon atoms, preferably LPG having C3-C4 hydrocarbons and mixture thereof at predetermined deasphalting conditions wherein the yield of deasphalted oil including its quality is controlled by varying the deasphalting conditions including the operating temperature. The yield variations of 15 to 60 wt % is achieved by swinging the temperature by about 10-20.degree. C. within the operative temperature range of 70-130.degree. C. keeping the rest of the operating conditions including solvent to feed ratio same. The LPG solvent can be recovered using supercritical mode of operation using technology known in the art and recycled.
  • Process for reduction of sulfur in FCC liquid products through the use of CO as a reducing agent
    Disclosed herein is an improved fluidized catalytic cracking process for converting normally liquid hydrocarbon feedstock with simultaneous reduction of sulfur content in the liquid products obtained therefrom which comprises carrying out the cracking process in the presence of carbon monoxide gas as a reducing agent. The process optionally includes a step of premixing the hydrocarbon feedstock with carbon monoxide gas causing major sulfur reduction before effecting the cracking. The premixing is done in a specified nozzle assembly linked to the FCC unit.
  • An Environment Friendly Method for Disposal of Waste Plastics through Conversion of Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) Polymers to Anti-Stripping Compounds
    A method for conversion of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) polymers to anti-stripping compounds for bitumen through a green chemistry approach is disclosed. The present invention also provides a method for safe and environment friendly large scale disposal of used PET polymer. The PET polymer is either recycled or virgin and is used as synthon. It is reacted with a polyamine, preferably tetraethylene pentamine in xylene solution, when the polyamine undergoes aminolysis reaction with PET without any catalyst and at a relatively low temperature in the range of 110 °C to 160 ° C. The process achieves the maximum conversion efficiency of 100% into diamino diamido mixture of compounds and produces no effluent. A method for producing a bituminous concrete having high anti-stripping properties is also disclosed.
  • A process for manufacturing of rubber oils with extremely low carcinogenic polycyclic aromatic compounds
    The invention discloses a rubber process oil and a process for manufacturing rubber process oils which are non-carcinogenic in nature. The process comprises of selectively producing Hildebrand solubility components enriched vacuum residue by selective distillation of reduced crude oil (RCO) to obtain minimum of 10 vol% boiling components in the range 490°C to 50°C, which leads to higher solubility of rubber process oil with an aniline point of less than 70°C and with extremely low concentration of selective polycyclic aromatics which makes the 15 product non-carcinogenic. The process comprises of selectively enriching higher Hildebrand solubility components in vacuum residue by vacuum distillation of reduced crude oil (RCO), then subjecting the enriched vacuum residue to solvent deasphalting process and subjecting the deasphalted oil to aromatic extraction process and then blending the enriched aromatic extract with Heavy Alkyl 20 Benzene(HAB) or Solvent processed base oil or hydroprocessed base oil or mixture thereof. The rubber process oils manufactured by the invented process have a polycyclic aromatics (PCA) content of less than 10 ppm, specifically benzo(a)pyrene content of less than 1ppm. They have aniline point less than 70°C but have high kinematic viscosity of 25 to 75 cSt at 100°C, pour point of 27°C or less and a flash point minimum of 250°C or more.
  • Mosquito Larvacidal Oil composition
    Disclosed is a very effective non-toxic mosquito larvicidal oil (MLO) composition which eliminates mosquito larvae and pupae by suffocating them, when the composition is applied on stagnant water surface. It is bio-degradable as well as non-toxic to plant and animals, particularly fish, in the area of its application. It poses no danger to human beings because it does not enter into the human food chain. The MLO forms an unbreakable thin film on the water surface. This film prevents the larvae and pupae present in the water from breathing in oxygen from the air above. Consequently, they die of suffocation within a short period. lit is devoid of side effects like pesticide resistance, resurgence of pests and numerous undesirable effects on flora and fauna that are common in similar mosquito larvicidal oil compositions. The MLO is an optimized combination of mineral oils and surfactants emulsifiers for excellent spreading and film formation characteristics. The mineral oil can be paraffinic or naphthenic, hydrocracked or mixture of these. The surfactants/emulsifiers are required for the spontaneous spreading of the oil layer over water surface and stability of the oil film after application on water surface.
  • An Apparatus & a Process for Fluid Catalytic Cracking
    An apparatus which is an integral hardware consisting of an annular downer reactor and a concentric upflow riser regenerator for catalytic cracking of hydrocarbon feed to is disclosed. The annular downer reactor terminates in annular stripper which is also concentric with the regenerator. The regenerator, reactor and stripper are in fluid connection with each other. The apparatus is highly compact and provides efficient contact between circulating catalyst and hydrocarbon feed. The proposed hardware includes a novel radial distributor for providing improved control and radial distribution of catalyst inside the downflow reactor. The radial distributor has equal numbers of stationary and movable parts placed one after another to cover the entire annular opening at the bottom of the regenerated catalyst vessel. The radial distributor is concentric with regenerator and located between the catalyst holding vessel and the reactor. A process for catalytic cracking using the invented apparatus is also disclosed.

The aromatic enriched deasphalted oil extract fraction obtained in accordance with the present invention can be used preparing plurality of grades of bitumen. Also, bitumen obtained in accordance with the present invention contains extremely low concentration of poly cyclic aromatics and more particularly benzo(a)pyrene.

    The present invention provides a process for preparation of a solid titanium catalyst component for use as pro-catalyst for a Ziegler-Natta catalyst system. The solid titanium catalyst component comprises a combination of 15 to 20 wt % of a magnesium moiety, 1.0 to 6.0 wt % of a titanium moiety and 5.0 to 20 wt % of an internal donor, said solid titanium catalyst component has an average particle size in the range of 1 to 100 .mu.m, characterized by a three point particle size distribution of D10 in the range of 1 to 10 .mu.m; D50 in the range of to 25 .mu.m and D90 in the range of 15 to 50 .mu.m. The present invention also provides a process for preparing the said adsorbent.

The additive system prevents formation of the deposit or removes such deposits once they have formed and simultaneously improves the ignition delay of diesel fuel for better fuel economy benefits without effecting the fuel properties and process for preparing the same. The said process comprises contacting a magnesium source with an organohalide and alcohol in a solvent to form the liquid organomagnesium precursor. The present invention also provides a catalyst system using the organomagnesium precursor and its use thereof for polymerization of olefins. An illustrative example of the claimed process to make the organomagnesium precursor is: At 25.degree. C., magnesium (powder or turnings) is added to organohalide, followed by alcohol in toluene. After heating to 90.degree. C. and keeping there for 6 h the solution became viscous.
  • Organometallic compounds in solid form, process for preparing the same and use thereof

  • A Process for simultaneous cracking of lighter and heavier hydrocarbon feed and system for the same
    The invention provides for a process and apparatus for simultaneous conversion of lighter and heavier hydrocarbon feedstocks into improved yields of light olefins in the range of C2 to C4, liquid aromatics in the range C6 to C8 mainly benzene, toluene, xylene and ethyl benzene and other useful products employing at least two different reactors operated in series with respect to catalyst flow and parallel with respect to feed flow under different regimes and process conditions with same catalyst system.
  • A method and hardware for supplying additives to the delayed coker drum
    An apparatus for supplying additives into a coker drum is disclosed. The apparatus comprises an inlet for supplying a hydrocarbon feed stream into the coker drum and a plurality of conduits arranged along the circumference of walls of the coker drum, each of the plurality of the conduits is provided with an injection nozzle to supply additives inside the coker drum. The apparatus further comprises an injection control system for controlling the operation of the plurality of injection nozzles such that 1) one or more of the injection nozzles placed within a first predetermined distance above a vapour liquid interphase of the hydrocarbon feed stream are configured to supply the additives; and 2) supply of the additive discontinues from a particular injection nozzle when a distance between the injection nozzle and the vapour liquid interphase is less than or equal to a second predetermined distance. The apparatus optionally includes a mechanical drive system for moving at least one of the plurality of conduits based on the level of the vapour liquid interphase of hydrocarbon feed stream in the coker drum.

    The present invention provides an accurate and cost effective method to detect adulteration of gasoline, aviation turbine fuel and diesel with an adulterant, by detecting an extrinsic marker and determining the concentration of the marker in adulterated gasoline and diesel fuels employing gas chromatography with or without mass spectroscopy. The disclosed invention primarily involves the extrinsic marker having organo sulfur molecule, or molecules bearing C-S bond, S-S bond, or both.

    This invention relates to a process and an apparatus for regeneration of spent FCC catalyst using multiple reactors operation resulting in wide variation of coke on spent catalyst are disclosed. This process uses an up flow regenerator with divided injection of spent catalyst based on their coke content to control the residence time for its efficient regeneration and reduced hydrothermal deactivation. This system has the advantage of minimizing the exposure to the high temperature of low coked catalyst to the minimum possible time and high coke contained catalyst to the required time for its complete regeneration.

    A multi-stage hydrotreating process obtains ultra-low sulfur diesel boiling range hydrocarbon having less than 10 ppm sulfur with elimination of external hot high pressure separator and avoids the formation of recombinant mercaptans by removing excess hydrogen sulfide formed during hydroprocessing reaction. The process includes mixing a diesel boiling range hydrocarbon feedstock with hydrogen and sending to the first predominantly liquid phase hydroprocessing reaction stage. Effluent from the first hydroprocessing reaction stage is sent to first separator zone of open and empty space in the upper part of the second hydroprocessing reaction stage to flash off the dissolved reaction products hydrogen sulfide and ammonia. Liquid part of the effluent of first hydroprocessing reaction stage is passed to the second predominantly liquid phase hydroprocessing reaction stage. The process is repeated until the liquid product sulfur level of less than 10 ppm is attained and the liquid product is sent to further processing.

    The present invention provides a polymer modified bituminous formulation comprising 0.1 to 10 wt. % of a reactive polymer, up to 5 wt. % of a plastomer, up to 5 wt. % of an elastomer, 0.001 to 6.0 wt. % of a cross linking agent, and 80 to 98 wt. % of bitumen, wherein the weight percentages are based upon the weight of the polymer modified bituminous formulation. The yield of olefins is further increased when the catalyst composition is impregnated with a cerium oxide. The catalytic metals have been deposited on the carbonized biomass, and the resulting formation have high BET surface area along with generation of micro and meso pores suitable for allowing larger size molecules for reaction to happen. The catalyst of the present invention is found to be useful for hydrotreating of vegetable oil, bio-oil, crude oil, petroleum or coal derived gas oil or blends thereof.     An integrated process for production of ultra low sulfur products of high octane gasoline, high aromatic naphtha and high Cetane Diesel from high aromatic middle distillate range streams from any cracker units such as Light Cycle Oil (LCO) stream of Fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) units and comprising of subjecting the feed boiling between 200 to 400.degree. C. and having at least 30 wt % multi-ring aromatics content subjected to hydrotreating for removal of heteroatoms like sulfur and nitrogen and at a pressure sufficient only for saturation of one ring of multi-ring aromatics. The effluent from hydrotreating is subjected to hydrocracking at same pressure of hydrotreating step above for selective opening of saturated ring of multi-ring aromatics. The effluent from hydrocracking is separated in CUT-1 boiling between 35 to 70.degree. C., CUT-2 boiling between 70 to 200.degree. C. in which the monoaromatics and alkylated monoaromatics are concentrated and CUT-3 boiling above 200.degree. C. in which concentration of saturates i.e. paraffins and naphthenes significantly increased. The CUT-3 is selectively oxidized in selective oxidation step in presence of catalyst, an oxidizing agent and operating conditions such that it results in diesel product with more enhanced Cetane.

    The present invention provides a method of producing fermentable sugars from lignocellulosic biomass. The method comprising the steps of treating a biomass mixture comprising lignocellulosic biomass and a waste refinery stream produced by petroleum refineries during production of low sulphur fuels to obtain a treated biomass mixture. Then the treated biomass mixture is filtered and washed with water and thereafter pressed to remove excess refinery waste, water and lignin to obtain a de-lignified biomass. Then the delignified biomass is reacted with one or more saccharification enzymes to obtain fermentable sugars.

    The present invention discloses a method and an apparatus for mixing and atomizing a hydrocarbon stream using a diluent/dispersion stream.
