Bitumen

Bitumen is a common binder used in road construction. It is principally obtained as a residual product in petroleum refineries after higher fractions like gas, petrol, kerosene and diesel, etc., are removed. Indian Standard Institution defines Bitumen as a black or dark brown non-crystalline soil or viscous material having adhesive properties derived from petroleum crude either by natural or by refinery processes.

IndianOil produces bitumen from its refineries at Panipat, Mathura, Koyali, Haldia, Chennai and Paradip and markets it in bulk as well as packed in steel drums. IndianOil also markets modified Bitumen CRMB. CRMB is produced at Panipat, Mathura and Haldia refineries.

Marketing Of Bitumenous Product:

Bitumen:

IndianOil markets Bitumen from its Refineries located at Koyali(Gujarat), Mathura(UP), Panipat(Haryana), Barauni(Bihar), Haldia(WB), Paradip(Orrissa) and CPCL(Tamil Nadu). Bitumen is available from these locations both in bulk as well as in packed drums. In addition to the refinery locations, packed bitumen is also marketed from upcountry locations Bokaro (Jharkhand), Baruani & Fatuah(Bihar), Guwahati & Jorhat (Assam), Chennai & Coimbatore (Tamil Nadu) and Ernakulam (Kerala).

CRMB:

CRMB is available from the refinery locations at Mathura, Panipat and Haldia.

Emulsion:

Emulsion is available from Haldia and Chennai refineries.

DURAPAVE:

IndianOil is marketing High Performance Bitumen Products under the brand name DURAPAVE. The DURAPAVE brand covers the whole range of Bitumen including all viscosity grades, Crumb Rubber Modified Bitumen (CRMB) and Polymer Modified Bitumen (PMB).

DURAPACK:

IndianOil has recently launched DURAPACK, a new packing of Bitumen in which 25 KG of bitumen is filled inside a specially designed polybag. The polybag is kept inside cubic corrugated carton. The polybag with Bitumen can directly be dropped in mixing plants. Cubic size of the carton makes it easier to handle, store, stack and transport.
