Singh team tees off best

PGTI member Ranjit Singh’s team, comprising amateurs J. Rakshit, R. Michael and Ritamoni Hazarika, won the Pro-Am event of the IndianOil XtraPremium Masters Golf tournament at Digboi Golf Links with a ceremonial tee-off by S. Ghosh, the executive director of IndianOil.

The event provided amateur golfers from Digboi in Tinsukia district an opportunity to play alongside some of the top professional golfers in the country.

The Pro-Am event was played in the Team Stableford format wherein each team comprises one professional and three amateurs.

The aggregate of two best amateur net scores on each hole over 18 holes comprised the team total. The scores of the professionals were not compulsory.

Singh’s team scored 105 points to clinch the top spot in the event while the team led by PGTI member Vikrant Chopra finished second with a score of 100 points.

The amateurs in Chopra’s team were Karanbir Singh and Pankaj Deka.

PGTI member Md Zamal Hossain Mollah’s team, comprising amateurs G.K. Goyari, S.J. Saliha and U.K. Saikia, finished third. Their team total was 98 points.

Ritamoni Hazarika won the prize for the closest shot to the pin on hole number 16. Her shot landed three feet and one inch from the pin.

L.D. Das won the contest for the straightest drive, on hole number 13.

His drive was two feet from the centre of the fairway.

The longest drive contest on hole number five was won by M.K. Baruah, who came up with a drive of 310 yards.
