World Diabetes Day observed at Digboi

The Medical Department of IOCL (AOD), Lions Club of Digboi and the Digboi branch of Indian Medical Association jointly observed the World Diabetes Day on Sunday at the Golden Jubilee Complex Auditorium here.

The inauguration part was presided over by Dr PK Saikia, president of the Digboi branch of IMA and DGM of the Medical Department of IOCL (AOD) and attended by Subrato Ghosh, Executive Director of IOCL (AOD) as chief guest and Sanjoy Pratim Bordoloi, General Manager In-Charge of IOCL (AOD), as guest of honour. The purpose of the Day was explained by Atul Sarmah.

Dr. Saikia highlighted in his welcome address the urgent need for detection and awareness among the public about diabetes.

Subrato Ghosh in his speech expressed his appreciation of the efforts of the Lions Club, Digboi branch of IMA and the Medical Department of his Division in the organization of the detection and awareness programme of diabetes.

SP Bordoloi also stressed on the necessity of early detection of this major killer of today's world.

Participating in the programme, Monika Saikia Dowerah, a dietician, said that diabetes could be cured and controlled through therapeutic diet.

TP Singh Saini, president of the Lions Club of Digboi, offered the vote of thanks.
