IndianOil, BPCL enter DY Patil T20 final

Defending champion IndianOil and BPCL got past ONGC and hosts D Patil A respectively in low scoring encounters to enter the final of the Rs 12 lakh prize money Dr D Patil T20 Cricket Tournament at the D Patil Stadium, Nerul on Saturday.

While IndianOil, riding on skipper Wasim Jaffer's knock of 40 and contributions from Siddhesh Lad (47) and Ajinkya Rahane (23) outplayed ONGC by four wickets with three balls to spare, BPCL scored a 40- run win over D Patil.

Batting first, ONGC lost three early wickets with only seven runs on board, medium paces Javed Khan and Anand Rajan sharing the spoils.

Tanmay Srivastava 38 (3x4s, 1x6) and Mayank Tehlan (21) retrieved the innings with a 47- run partnership, before Sumeet Narwal gave the innings some respectability with a magnificent half century in only 26 balls, the second in as many innings, which was studded with five boundaries and two sixes.

ONGC managed 151 for 7 in their 20 overs, which was not sufficient to keep IndianOil at bay.

After the openers had departed for 54 runs, Siddhesh Lad ( 47), who played his first game of the tournament in the company of his skipper Wasim Jaffer ( 40) added 57 runs in 43 balls.

Experienced campaigner Jaffer carried on, before he was bowled by all rounder Taruwar Kohli with four runs required for a win in the 18th over. Harpreet Singh completed the formalities with a boundary for IndianOil in the final over.

In the other semi- final match BPCL outplayed Dr D Patil ' A' on spinner friendly track in a low scoring affair. An opening stand of 55 runs between Bhavin Thakkar (23) and Manish Pandey (36) was the highlight of the BPCL innings, who scored scored 127 for 8 in 20 Overs. For the host spinners Nilesh Kulkarni, Iqbal Abdulla, and Siddharth Chitnis took two wickets each. D Patil ' A' were bowled out for 87 in 17.1 overs.

For BPCL spinner Kiran Adhav took three wickets for 15 and Gaurav Jathar two for 18 runs as the hosts lost by 40 runs.
