Guwahati   15-Jan-2008
The IndianOil (Assam Oil Division) has requested the LPG Consumers not to go for pain buying and to wait for regular home delivery instead of queuing up in front of the distributors. In a release here today, AK Kalita Chief LPG Manager, Sales of the IndianOil (Assam Oil Division) said that the general perception of LPG scarcity led to panic buying by the consumers. He asserted that there was no scarcity of LPG and all the bottling plants were functioning normally to meet the demand for the Magh Bihu. He revealed that the IndianOil (Assam Oil. division) supplied 116537 cylinders in Guwahati city up to January 13 compared to the daily average demand of 8,000 cylinders. Further; some unscrupulous commercial establishments including small hotels, restaurants, etc. use domestic cylinders procured against connections of their employees and their family members. The Kamrup (metropolitan) district administration has been urged to conduct raids on such establishments who are using domestic cylinders to eliminate this illegal practice.
