Burglars strike at IOC officer's home in Paldi
Ahmedabad   07-Feb-2011

A gang of thieves targeted an IndianOil (IOC) official's house in Paldi on Saturday night as the family went to Mumbai for their US visa process. Officials believe it to be the handiwork of an insider and have started investigations. The amount stolen could not be ascertained.

According to Ellisbridge police station officials, Sunil Kavinde, a resident of Garden Enclave near Law Garden, has filed a complaint with police that his brother Girish's residence at Kashmira Society in Paldi was raided by thieves between 8.30 pm on Saturday and 8 am on Sunday.

"The theft was detected when the neighbours observed an open door. The family had left to Mumbai on Saturday as Kavinde's son and daughter were applying for student visas to the US for higher studies. The thieves broke the latch on the main door to enter the house. They also broke into a safe in the house to steal valuables. As the residents of the house have not returned, the amount of stolen valuables could not be ascertained," said BK Purohit, inspector of Ellisbridge police station.

Officials believe the thieves might have known about the family's departure and thus planned the theft.
