IndianOil's Ennore project gets state nod
Chennai   27-Feb-2011

State-owned IndianOil's proposal to set up a 5 million tonne liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal at Ennore received go-ahead from the Tamil Nadu government.

The Rs 8,000-crore project, in joint venture with Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO), has been granted incentives which include VAT and CST concessions, facilitation for setting up a gas distribution network in Chennai and elsewhere in the state along with establishing a retail network for compressed natural gas (CNG) for the transport sector. The incentive package was handed over by deputy chief minister MK Stalin to executive director, IndianOil, AK Marchanda.

Along with an LNG re-gasification terminal, a gas-based power plant will also be set up at suburban Ennore. The Ennore Gas Terminal is expected to be commissioned by 2014-15.
