'Barauni refinery achieved record turnover'

The Barauni unit of IndianOil witnessed an excellent all-round performance, setting up several milestones and an all-time record in turnover, profit, product sale through pipeline network in 2006-07. Addressing a press conference on Thursday, executive director (ED) of Barauni Oil Refinery, A K Malhotra said the plant was undergoing marked changes processing, technology, up gradation and modernisation. Besides, old equipments were being replaced with highly efficient machineries, applying state of the art technology. Added to this, the Real Time Date Base (RTDB) management system has been launched and YEO Project within the AVU-II successfully put in operation. The new treatment unit for LPG production was ready along with completion of crude oil tank-240. Crude oil with a maximum of 16.7 per cent Sulphur was processed here in September last year. Malhotra said the LPG bottling plant had also been handed over to the marketing division by the BOR in December 2007. Replying to a query, the ED admitted short supply of crude oil to Barauni unit during the last three months and gave details of the reasons behind it. Regarding community development schemes for people of the area, he said Rs 37 lakh would be spent in the next financial year. An amount of Rs 25 lakh was donated to the Chief Minister Relief Fund during the last floods. The IndianOil sold 53.4 MT petroleum products against 50.6 MT last year. Sale of natural gas rose to 1.48 MT from 1.3 MT last year. The export of products increased to 3.13 MT in the current year in comparison to 2.9 MT during the previous year, the ED informed reporters. All DGMs and departmental heads were present at the press conference.
