IndianOil edge past Air India

IndianOil beat Air India, Mumbai (4-2) while Air India (North) defeated Namdhari XI 5-3 in the Maharaja Ranjit Singh Hockey Tournament at Shlvaji Stadium here on Sunday. Hamza Mujtaba gave IndianOil lead in the ninth minute and made it 2-0 for the oil company through a field goal in the 35th minute. Hamza again struck for IndianOil in the 43rd minute, making it a hat trick. The dominance of IndianOil continued as Inderjit Singh Chadha scored the fourth goal for his team in the 44th minute. Air India did manage to narrow the score to 2-4 through Len Aiyappa (47th min) and Girish Pirapale (57th min). Meanwhile, Sandeep Singh helped Air India (north) beat Namdhari XI (53) by his three goals in the 9th, 28th, 38th and 51 st minute respectively. Dhanraj Pillay struck for the team in the 69th minute. From Namdhari XI, Sumeet Singh and Sher Singh converted one goal each in the 17th and 22nd minute respectively. Bharat Petroleaum will play Punjab National Bank on Monday. It will be followed by the second match of the day between Punjab & Sind Bank and Army XI.
