IndianOil's Paradip refinery put off by a year
Mumbai   20-Oct-2011

The commissioning of IndianOil's Paradip refinery project is likely to be deferred by over 12 months to June 2013, mainly because Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (Bhel) has not been able to complete its power plant at the refinery in time, a senior IndianOil official said on Wednesday. The IndianOil Paradip refinery project, with a capacity to process 15 million tonne per annum, was earlier slated to commission in March-June 2012. "There will be delay of over one year in commissioning of Paradip refinery. There are various reasons but mainly there is a delay in Bhel power plant. Bhel is unable to complete the power plant in time," the official said. According to him, Bhel was scheduled to complete the 376 mw gas turbine-based combined-cycle power plant by September-October this year. However, the power plant is now likely to be delayed by 6-7 months, he said.
