IOC upgrades 2 of its petrol pumps in Ranchi, more to follow
Ranchi   24-Oct-2011

The IndianOil (IOC) has started modernising and computerising its 796 petrol pumps across the state.

As part of the drive, two petrol pumps in Ranchi were upgraded. These are the Ram Vilas pump on Ratu Road and the Friends Auto pump at Kanta Toli Chowk.

IOC general manager (Bihar and Jharkhand) BB Chowdhury said: “Now the customers would get a bill instantly after refuelling their tank. All transactions would be directly monitored by the main server of IOC in Mumbai.”

This step taken by IOC would help check the pilferage by salespersons at the refuelling centres, Chowdhury added.

In order to improve the functioning of the pumps and check pilferage, the IOC is going to computerise its petrol pumps to ensure that the customers get proper quantities of oil. It would mention the quantity and price of the supplied oil.

No equipment is being added to the pumps, which would instantly issue the receipt to the customer even if he does not demand it. Chowdhury said that the company would modernise 20 such petrol pumps in the fiscal while in the next financial year 40 pumps would be upgraded. IOC expects to modernise all its 796 petrol pumps in four years.
