Manjunath death anniv: Pledge at B-schools

Students of various B-schools across India will pledge their integrity on Saturday to mark the sixth death anniversary of Manjunath Shanmugam, an Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Lucknow alumnus, who was murdered on November 19, 2005 at Lakhimpur Khiri, UP, for resisting corruption and oil adulteration.

While students and alumni of IIM Lucknow organised the pledge of Integrity and a candle light march on Friday. Students of IIMs Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Kozhikode, Rohtak, Shillong, Ranchi, Raipur as well as other premier B-Schools such as Narsee Monjee Institute of Management studies, K J Somaiya Institute of Management studies and research and SP Jain institute of Management and Research in Mumbai and Faculty of Management Studies in Delhi will participate in the candle light march and pledge their integrity on Saturday.

His friends and alumni of IIM Lucknow and Bangalore had formed a trust called Manjunath Shanmugam Trust. H Jaishankar, one of the trustees of Manjunath Shanmugam Trust and alumni of IIM Bangalore, said, “We formed this trust in February 2006 a few months after his death with the prime objective of fighting his case in the court. However, now our objective is to spread the word of integrity and encourage students to fight corruption. Every year on an average, over 2,500 students pledge their integrity.”
