IndianOil reports highest-ever crude processing in FY12

State-owned IndianOil today said its refineries have recorded the highest ever crude processing of 55.6 million tonnes (MT) during 2011-12, surpassing the previous best of 53.0 MT achieved in the previous fiscal.

"Earning overall capacity utilisation of 102.6%, IndianOil refineries have marked over 100% capacity utilisation for the fifth year in a row," the company said in a statement here.

IndianOil is the nation's largest oil refiner with 54.2 MT of refining capacity. It also is a majority stake holder in Chennai Petroleum Corp Ltd, which operates two refineries of 11.50 MT capacities.

India has a total refining capacity of 216.066 MT per annum.

IndianOil Director (Refineries) RajKumar Ghosh said realising the need to add value through improved Gross Refinery Margins of refineries, profitability improvement studies have been carried out through special task-force at Gujarat, Panipat, Haldia and Mathura Refineries recently.

"The in-house multi-unit army of IndianOil engineers has identified various schemes, which are under implementation. Similar studies are being carried out at other refineries also," the statement said.

Besides building a 15 MT unit at Paradip in Orissa, IndianOil is expanding Gujarat Refinery from present 13.7 MT to 18 MT per annum and setting-up of Butene-1 at Panipat Naphtha Cracker Complex, Panipat.
