IndianOil Refineries win OGCF Awards - 2008

IndianOil's Mathura, Gujarat and Barauni Refineries have won the prestigious Oil and Gas Conservation Fortnight (OGCF) Awards -2008. IndianOil's Director (Refineries) Mr. B N Bankapur, accompanied by Mr. J P Guharay, ED (Mathura Refinery), Mr. A. S. Basu, ED (Gujarat Refinery) and Mr. B P Das, DGM, Production (Barauni Refinery) received the awards from Petroleum Secretary Mr. M. S. Srinivasan recently in New Delhi, in the presence of Dr. K. S. Balaraman, ED, CHT and other luminaries from the Hydrocarbon sector. Congratulating the award winners Srinivasan said that the downstream sector needs to cohesively strive towards setting and achieving global benchmarks in cost Cutting, operational efficiency improved Gross Refinery Margins, environment and safety standards to accrue higher profits. As a result of energy conservation measures undertaken at the IndianOil Refineries, the Specific energy consumption index in terms of MBTU/ BBL/ NRGF of IndianOil Refineries in the year 2007-08 has come down to 67 against the energy index of 71 in the year 2006-07. This is much lower than the industry average of 71. Bankapur also shared that more than 20 energy conservation schemes were implemented during 2007-08 resulting in savings to the tune of 27000 SRFT per year. Hydrogen recovery from CCRU off gas at Gujarat Refinery, installation of air Pre-heater in Visbreaker & Stepless control for MUG compressor in OHCU at Mathura Refinery, Yield and energy improvement at Crude Distillation Units of Barauni Refinery and heat recovery from main column bottom stream of RFCCU in Panipat Refinery are some of the major schemes.
