Mathura refinery seeks govt’s green signal for expansion
New Delhi   13-Sep-2008
IndianOil is planning to raise its Mathura refinery capacity to 11 million tonnes (MT) from 8 MT currently. "We have approached the environment and forest ministry for clearance to expand our Mathura refinery," company director (refineries) B N Bankapur said. The refinery's capacity addition is halted because of concerns about the impact the project might have on Taj Mahal. The refinery processes low sulphur crude from Bombay High, imported low sulphur crude from Nigeria and high sulphur crude from the Middle East.
