IndianOil recently signed a MoU with M/s Sahaj e-Village Limited for selling 5kg FTL Indane cylinders at their Common Service Centers across the States of Assam, Bihar, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal wherever it is active. The MoU was signed in the presence of senior officials from both organisations. While Sahaj was represented by Mr. Sanjay Panigrahi, CEO - Sahaj e-Village Limited, and Ms. Roma Bachchani Gupta, Manager, Business Development, Sahaj e-Village Limited, IndianOil was represented by Ms. Sadhana Khera Mittal, DGM(LPG- Strategies), HO, Mr. P. K. Jha, DGM(LPG), UPSO and Mr. Manish Grover, Chief Manager (LPG-Strategies), HO. For the first time IndianOil is venturing into a pan-India tie up with a private company for selling 5kg Indane cylinders. Sahaj is present across the 6 States of Assam, Bihar, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal with more than 27000 Common Service Centers (CSCs) located across remote locations, reaches out to a rural consumer base of more than 27 crore.

Sahaj has taken up the challenging task of eliminating the undemocratic digital divide between rural and urban India, under the flagship of the National e-Governance Plan of the Government of India. It brings government, business, and services to the rural India through an expanding network of Village Level Franchisee Partners. Sahaj is set to launch over 28,000 CSCs across the six states of country. This makes Sahaj the largest CSC player with 32 % mandate share. It is also the only player with a dedicated web portal & data centre. With the introduction of selling and distribution of 5kg FTL Indane cylinders through Sahaj’s well-connected Common Service Centers it is certain to spell convenience for rural consumers.

This MoU assumes a greater importance in view of the fact that 142 million rural Indian households use firewood and other solid fuels, such as animal dung, charcoal, crop waste and coal, as their primary source of household energy. The only solution to bring about a change in the cooking habits of rural Indians is to introduce clean burning LPG gas connections in every rural household by setting up low cost distribution agencies across rural India. This would result in reducing the number of Indian households relying on solid-fuel and soot-emitting cook stoves especially in rural India.

Speaking about the tie-up Mr. Sanjay Panigrahi, CEO, Sahaj said, “We have one of the largest digitally enabled networks in Rural India. Our motto is to take the benefits of products & services to the villages. We are extremely pleased to have tied-up with Indane and are sure that this critical service would increase adoption as well as improve conditions in the Rural markets we serve”.

In the first phase, IndianOil is all set to market 5 kg FTL cylinders in UP through Sahaj.
