IOCians shine at National Team Chess Championship held at Goa

The PSPB team from IndianOil won both the men's and the women's titles in the National Team Chess Championship held at Panaji, Goa recently.

The men's team comprised of two players - Mr. B. Adhiban, ‘A’ Grade Officer, SRO bagged the best board prize by scoring 6.5 points in 8 rounds in the vital top board and Mr. S. S. Ganguly, Dy. Manager, ERO won the best board prize with 7.5 points in eight rounds.

Both players remained unbeaten till the end which also helped the PSPB team win the tournament for the 3rd successive year by aggregating maximum 18 points in nine rounds.

In the women's team, Ms. Soumya Swaminathan, Tenure Based Sportsperson, Pune DO won the top board prize by securing 6.5 points in seven rounds clinching the best performance title in team events. It was the maiden title achieved by the women's team. Mr. D. V. Prasad, Manager (Administration), Marketing HO was the coach for the team.
