As Gujarat Refinery is heading towards the shutdown of units under Residue Upgradation Project, Mr. Sanjiv Singh, Director (Refineries) visited the refinery to review the planning and other projects currently underway recently.

Mr. Singh was accorded a warm floral welcome by Mr. S. K. Dhar Gupta, ED, along with members of senior management. Mr. Singh planted a sapling in premises of Refinery as a symbol of sustainability.

A detailed presentation on the shutdown activities of units including Fluidised Catalytic Cracker Unit, Vacuum Gas Oil Hydrotreating Unit, and Delayed Coker Unit was made by Team Gujarat Refinery on the occasion. Various aspects of shutdown operations were deliberated on during the interactive session with Director (Refineries).

Addressing the gathering Mr. Singh said, “Team Gujarat Refinery has done good planning for upcoming shutdown. However, in light of number of refineries undergoing shutdown at the same time, there could be a shortfall of diesel supply from our side in the market. This could give an opportunity for private players for garnering greater market share. Therefore, we must optimise the resources and plan the shutdown activities in such way that the units are shut for minimum days and we are able to retain our permanent market share”.

After the session, Mr. Singh and Mr. Dhar Gupta, along with senior members of management, visited the units which shall undergo the shutdown. Mr. Singh inaugurated the renovated Occupational Health Centre (OHC) of Gujarat Refinery. The renovated OHC has adopted Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) practices to maintain employee records. Also, the new centre has added facilities for phenol tests and replaced equipment such as audiometric test, CO monitor and lung function test.
