Pradhan in Bangladesh to firm up cooperation in oil, gas sectors

Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Petroleum and Natural Gas, will visit Bangladesh from April 17 to 19 and will witness the signing of a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the downstream oil and gas sector opportunities in Bangladesh between Indian Oil Corporation and Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation.

Pradhan will also visit Chittagong on April 19 to witness the award of contract by Eastern Refineries Ltd to Engineers India Ltd as a project management and consultant for its 3 million tonnes per annum refinery expansion project, an official statement said.



On his arrival on Sunday, Pradhan called on the Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina and conveyed that India-Bangladesh bilateral relationship has become pragmatic and mature over the years.

“He discussed all bilateral issues pertaining to the hydrocarbon sector between the two companies.

“He referred to the supply of 2,200 tonnes of high-speed diesel to Bangladesh from the Siliguri marketing terminal of Numaligarh Refinery to Parbatipur depot of Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation. He said that India was planning to continue supply of diesel in a sustainable manner,” an official statement said.
