New Delhi   01-Sep-2016

Indian Oil Corporation will be adding 24 million tonnes of crude oil refining capacity through brownfield expansions over the next five to six years, Director (Refineries) Sanjiv Singh told the company’s employees on Thursday.

Singh was addressing IndianOil’s Foundation Day and told employees that the expansions at refineries will be carried out concurrent to the projects currently being undertaken for supplying BS-VI compliant fuels by April 2020.

“The government has set very stringent targets of meeting BS IV and BS VI standard fuel quality to ensure a better environment. Accordingly, our refineries need to meet the strict timelines of April 2017 and April 2020, respectively, set for supplying BS IV and BS VI compliant fuels,” Singh said.
