Water supply unit foundation laid

<i>Digboi: </i>Mr. Subrata Ghosh, Executive Director, IndianOil (AOD), laid the foundation stone of Digboi College Water Treatment and Supply Unit at a function on Monday attended by his senior colleagues and the college fraternity. The unit is funded by IndianOil (AOD) from its CSR funds and is targeted for completion in a month’s time so that the boys’ hostel of the college could be commissioned in the ensuing session. In the meeting held on the occasion under the president ship of Mr. M. Bharali Boruah, principal of the college, Mr. Ghosh appreciated that Digboi College had focused itself well on so many diverse affairs towards fulfillment of its responsibilities to the community. He assured that the IndianOil (AOD) linkage with Digboi College would continue in the future for a healthy orientation of its CSR goals. In his address he laid stress on proper career guidance to the students and on further improvement in the academic achievements so that the college could attain an all-India level of excellence. The meeting was attended by Mr. TC Sarma, Chief Administrative Manager, Mr. J.S. Sandhu, DGM (Vigillance), Mr. P.C. Sonowal, DGM (HR) of IndianOil (AOD) and Aftab Hussain, vice president of AOC Labour Union apart from the college community including some members of the governing body and a section of the local press. All of them reiterated their positive commitment to the cause for an all-round development of this premier institution of higher education. Hussain also expressed his solidarity with the college in its developmental efforts. Earlier, Professor Mr. M. Bharali Boruah, principal of the college extended warm welcome to Ghosh and the other dignitaries saying that their visit would go down the annals of the college and would continue to inspire the entire college community. Mr. T.K. Sanyal, explained the purpose of the meeting and G Kalita, vice-principal presented a profile of the college. Professor M. Bharali Boruah in his presidential speech thankfully recalled the generous patronage of the IndianOil (AOD) in all the developmental projects and activities of the college right from the beginning. On the occasion, he submitted a memorandum to Ghosh, urging assistance towards building up the centralised computer centre of the college. Mr. T.K. Sanyal offered the vote of thanks.
