IndianOil (AOD) Hospital holds free health check-up camp

A free health check-up and treatment camp was organised at Lakhipathar public auditorium, some 7 km away from Digboi by IndianOil (AOD) Hospital on June 20 under the community development programme. A 15-member squad of nurses and para-medicos rendered the support services. Group of doctors included Dr. N. Sarma, DGM, Health, Dr. Bibhas Das, Dr. M. K. Devlal, Dr. K. K. Das, Dr. Utpal Saikia and Dr. Ajay Dowerah. A total of 400 odd patients of different remote villages within Lakhipathar area received treatment in the camp and were provided free medicines as necessary. At one time the whole auditorium premises was crowded with patients of all age groups and their attendants and the camp organisers had to open an additional counter for registration. Dr. Bibhas Das initiated the proceedings of the-brief inaugural meeting held in the morning. The meeting was attended by Subroto Ghosh, Executive Director of AOD, Dr. N. Sarma, P. J. David, DGM (Training), P. Sonowal, DGM (HR), T. C. Sarma, Chief Administrative Manager, H. N. Sarma, Retired principal of Margherita College, and a packed audience of the locality. The local Goanbura, Chandra Kanta Koch, accorded welcome to all. Dr. N. Sarma in his speech reiterated the corporate social responsibilities of IndianOil and urged the people to avail the opportunities of service to be offered by the camp. He recalled that since 1984 AOD Hospital had organised 348 health camps stretched over 142 villages and attended a total of 72,844 cases including free indoor treatment provided to 2584 patients. . The AOD Nursing School students also made a poster presentation on the occasion to instill awareness among the people about malaria - its symptoms and cure. Arun Hazarika offered the vote of thanks.
