Times of India, Delhi   02-Jul-2020

Shrikant Madhav Vaidya on Wednesday took over the reins of Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), the country's largest oil refiner and fuel retailer with more than 55% share of the market.

A chemical engineer from the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Rourkela, Vaidya succeeds Sanjiv Singh, who superannuated on June 30. As director (refineries) before his elevation, Vaidya led the upgrade of the company's refineries for leapfrogging to BS-VI fuels.

Vaidya nurtures a strong vision of leveraging technology and innovative, sustainable fuel solutions for the company's growth as an integrated energy major.

As executive director (refinery operations) at Indian Oil, he was instrumental in expansion of several refineries and petrochemical projects. His other achievements were supplying cleaner shipping fuel, introduction of special winter-grade diesel for the high-altitude Himlayan regions and expanding IOC low-carbon offerings with projects for biofuels and 2G/3G ethanol-blended fuels at its refineries.
