PNG set to ease cooking gas woes in the city
Lucknow   27-Jul-2010

Chairman, Green Gas Limited - a joint venture of GAIL and IndianOil - BM Bansal on Monday claimed that the eagerly awaited project of supplying piped natural gas (PNG) would start very soon. He was in the city to inaugurate the District Regulatory Station for PNG. The MB club, where the event was held, is all set to become the first place in the state capital to run its kitchen on PNG. Mr. Bansal is also the Chairman of Green Gas Ltd.

To note, PNG is a combustible mixture of natural gas and air which does not ignite if the mixture is leaner than 5% and richer than 15% of the air-fuel ratio required for ignition. This narrow inflammability range makes PNG one of the safest fuels in the world.

"The DRS has a capacity to deliver upto 5,000 standard cubic meters of gas per hour. We have plans to provide PNG to 5,000 households in Ashiana, Cantonment and Sadar areas,'' he said. "Besides being safe, PNG is cheaper than domestic cooking gas. The cost would drop by 10% as on date,'' he added.

Manager, marketing, GGL, Surya Prakash who was present on the occasion informed reporters that PNG offers continuous and adequate supply of cooking gas round the clock without any problems of storing it. "Once you switch over to the PNG system, the booking of LPG refill and then a long wait for the delivery man will become a thing of past,'' he said.

He added that PNG would eliminate the tedious routine of checking LPG refill cylinder for any suspected leakage, or it being underweight, at the time of delivery. The user is also spared the inconvenience of connecting and disconnecting the LPG cylinder when out of gas.
