National Safety Awards to Bongaigaon Refinery

Bongaigaon Refinery of IndianOil has been awarded two prestigious ‘National Safety Awards’ instituted by the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India.

The Refinery was declared winner under both Scheme-I and Scheme-II for its outstanding performance in the category of "industrial safety" based on lowest average frequency rate and "accident free year" for the performance year 2008.

The awards were presented by Mallikarjun Kharge, Union Minister of Labour & Employment, at a glittering function held on September 27 at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi and were received by HC Vishwakarma, Executive Director (Officiating), Bongaigaon Refinery. Vishwakarma was accompanied by AR Babuji, General Manager (S&EP) and RP Singh, Sr. Manager (S&EP).

It would be worthwhile to mention here that Bongaigaon Refinery has been awarded the National Safety Award for the ‘Lowest Average Frequency Rate’ for the fifth consecutive year in a row starting from 2006 onwards and the National Safety Award for ‘Accident Free Year’ for the sixth consecutive year starting from 2005 onwards as a recognition to its outstanding performance in industrial safety over the period. This is also an indication of the strong commitment and emphasis that Bongaigaon Refinery lays on occupational health, safety and environment.
