New Delhi   03-Jan-2013

IndianOil Director (Pipelines) Mr. V S Okhde has announced that the company's Pipelines Division achieved a throughput of 74.8 million tonnes (mt) in 2012, which is its highest so far in a calendar year.

He added that the oil and natural gas giant is poised for growth not only in conventional liquid hydrocarbon pipelines but in dedicated liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and aviation turbine fuel (ATF) pipelines too. Projects like augmentation of the Chennai-Trichy-Madurai pipeline, crude oil transfer pipeline from the North Oil Jetty to crude oil tank farm at Paradip, branch pipeline from Koyali-Sanganer pipeline at Viramgam to Kandla and augmentation of the Chennai-Bangalore pipeline have been commissioned in 2012, noted Okhde. Two projects, — the integrated offshore crude oil handling facilities at Paradip and additional crude oil tanks & blending facilities at Vadinar — are in advanced stages of completion and are expected to be commissioned within the current financial year (2012-13), he informed.

In October IndianOil started gas supply to National Fertilizers Ltd (NFL), Panipat, through a newly laid spur line from its existing Dadri-Panipat regassified-LNG pipeline, which marked the gas supply to the first customer. IndianOil has a 26 per cent share in the Malleswaram-Bhilwara, Mehsana-Bhatinda and Bhatinda-Jammu-Srinagar gas pipeline projects that are under implementation through joint venture (JV) companies. Efforts are on to look for new opportunities in gas pipelines.

We are also contemplating identification of opportunities for providing engineering consultancy and PMC services, either independently or in association with other companies,' said Okhde.
