What We Do
At IndianOil, the Quality Control (QC) Department ensures that every product, from refinery to customer end, meets the highest standards and is on-spec all the time. IndianOil marketing QC has a robust network of laboratories across India. These labs are equipped with state-of-the-art equipment for testing and certification of petroleum products viz. Motor Gasoline and variants, High Speed Diesel and variants, Kerosene, Naphtha, Fuel Oil, Aviation Fuels, Bituminous products, among others.
- The labs are accredited to ISO/IEC 17025:2017 standards by NABL and follow best industry practices for testing and certification of fuels in accordance with BIS, ISO, ASTM, and IP Standards.
- IndianOil has Marketing labs for Aviation Fuel testing, approved by both DGCA & DGAQA.
- At select port locations on both Western and Eastern Coasts, Marketing labs are equipped with latest facilities for testing of Bunker Fuels in accordance with ISO-8217 requirements.
- To cater to the requirement of composition analysis of LPG, IndianOil has set-up special LPG testing labs.
- IndianOil has also established Bituminous product testing labs to assure that highest quality products are supplied to the customers in line with MoRTH requirements.
Industry Support
To meet the industrial requirement of Biodiesel testing and certification, lab facility is available at select locations for full specification testing requirements of customers.
Facility for full specification testing of Ethanol is also available.
IndianOil has developed the first dedicated Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) testing lab for full specification parameters, reinforcing its commitment towards sustainable energy solutions in aviation domain.
QC Support Services
Calibration Services: IndianOil’s Marketing Labs at select locations have capability for calibration of test equipment viz. Hydrometer, Alcoholometer, Thermometer, Pressure Gauges and Viscometers, in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025.
Certified Reference Materials: With a focus on Atmanirbhar Bharat, IndianOil has a Reference Material production unit in accordance with ISO/IEC 17034. The Certified Reference Materials of ATF, Diesel and Motor Gasoline Matrix suitable for Petroleum testing and certification are marketed from here. IndianOil has collaborated with CSIR-NPL for trademarking of IOCL CRMs in line with Bharatiya Nirdeshak Dravya (BND). The CRM requirements can be addressed to [email protected]
Proficiency Testing: IndianOil’s Eastern Region Lab provides Proficiency Testing Programme (PTP) as per ISO/IEC 17043 for the benchmarking of lab performance. PTP services include Motor Gasoline, Diesel fuel, Kerosene, Aviation Turbine Fuel and Biodiesel suitable for the competency demonstration of Fuel Testing Labs. Technical Expertise: The QC Department at IndianOil is backed by a pool of experts for providing solutions with respect to fuel quality and application contributing to continual improvement in business processes. Our experts are actively participating in various Technical Forums, Seminars and Training programmes for knowledge sharing and strengthening Industry engagement. Industry partners can also benefit from IndianOil’s vast experience in the domain of Fuel certification Lab design and good lab practices.

Corporate and industry customers can avail tailor-made courses which includes technical expertise and testing capabilities of IndianOil’s Quality Control laboratories to address the fuel and application related challenges. These courses help the end users raise their level of specialization and provide insights into the regulatory requirements of the markets and processes of current fuel business.
