Award hike for golf meet

The Aircel Professional Golf Tour of India is organising the Indian Oil Xtra Premium Masters Golf with an increase in cash prizes at the Digboi Golf Links from November 10 to 13.

The Pro-Am event is scheduled for tomorrow. The prize money for the tournament has been raised to Rs 25 lakh from Rs 20 lakh in the last edition.

The field at Digboi will feature a good mix of seasoned professionals like five-time champion Mukesh Kumar, Vijay Kumar, Harmeet Kahlon, Feroz Ali Mollah and Ali Sher as well as some of the most promising youngsters in the country such as Raju Ali Mollah, Chiragh Kumar, Gaurav Pratap Singh and Harendra Gupta. Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (Assam Oil Division) senior executive S. Ghosh said, “We look forward to hosting the 11th edition of the tournament.”

Golf fans in the Northeast eagerly look forward to the meet. The IOCL (Assam Oil Division) has been hosting the tournament since 1999.

The PGTI said, “We are confident that by staging the Indian Oil Xtra Premium Masters Golf in partnership with the IndianOil, we will contribute towards the rapid development of the sport in the Northeast. The increased award for this year’s event is set to raise the bar for the professionals.”
