Remembrance Day observed

The Remembrance Day 2010 was also observed on Sunday morning on the hallowed ground of Digboi War Cemetery in the presence of a large and distinguished gathering. Brig Asit Mistry was the chief guest.

The event began with paying tributes to the heroes of the Allied Forces who belonged to the 14th Army of the Eastern Command fighting against the Axis Powers in course of the Burmese Campaign and bravely laid down their lives for the noble cause of humanity.

Brig Mistry paid homage in his speech to those valiant heroes of the World War II and also to the brave martyrs of India who had sacrificed their lives for the noble cause of territorial integrity of our motherland. He thanked Subrato Ghosh, Executive Director of IOCL (AOD) and his team of officers for the nice upkeep of the cemetery. Ghosh was the distinguished guest of the occasion.

Recitation of hymns from Gita, Kuran, Granth Sahib and Bible added to the piety and serenity of the event.
