IndianOil tops Fortune India list

The first-ever list of Fortune 500 companies in India has ranked state-owned IndianOil at No. 1 in terms of revenue, followed by Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Industries Ltd and State Bank of India.

Of the top 10, five are state-owned. Tata Steel Ltd, Tata Motors Ltd and ICICI Bank Ltd also rank among the top 10 in the survey conducted by Fortune India, a Time Inc. magazine published in India by ABP Pvt. Ltd.

The monthly business magazine also features a list of top 50 enterprises in Brazil, Russia, India and China--the Bric countries. In this list, sourced from the Fortune Global 500 published in July, six of the top 10 companies are from China. No Indian company features in the top 10.
