State minister for fire and emergency services, Mr Pratim Chatterjee, delivered some practical tips to save natural oil and gas. Inaugurating Oil and Gas Conservation Fortnight, an initiative by IndianOil to preserve fossil fuel, he said: “We are facing unfavourable demand-supply crisis, so the need of the hour is to take measures to stop wastage of fossil fuel.” He also added that excess use of fuel pollutes the environment. He advised vehicle users to maintain some basic guidelines to save fuel. Mr Priobhas Dey, general manager (regional services), IndianOil, said: “India is dependent on foreign supply to the extent of 80 per cent, which means our higher exposure to the volatility of global crude oil prices.” So the initiative will help in generating awareness among people to conserve oil, he added.
