Shri Jaipal Reddy presents Petrofed Oil & Gas Industry Awards

The PetroFed Oil & Gas Industry Awards 2009 and 2010 for excellence in performance in various categories were presented by the Union Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Shri S. Jaipal Reddy here today.

The 2009 awards were for performance during fiscal 2008-09 in nine categories while the 2010 awards were for performance during financial year 2009-10 in 11 categories.

The Minister congratulated the 11 companies who had won awards and commended the apex hydrocarbon industry association for instituting the awards in 2007 to recognize and nurture talent and excellence in the oil & gas industry operating in India.

Welcoming invitees Chairman, PetroFed and Chairman, IndianOil Shri R. S. Butola highlighted the need for keeping the spirit of healthy competition alive through such awards.

While giving a brief about the awards Director General, PetroFed Shri A. K. Arora pointed out that as part of constant renewal and improvement, two new categories of awards were added during 2010, namely ‘Drilling Services Company of the Year’ and ‘Environmental sustainability Company of the Year”.

The leading award winners were Oil & Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC), IndianOil (IOCL) and Bharat Petroleum corporation Limited (BPCL). ONGC bagged the leading Oil & as Corporate Year of the awards for both the years. ONGC also bagged the Exploration & Production Company of the Year for 2010 and a Special Commendation in the category for 2009. IndianOil’s Panipat and Haldia Refinery won the Project Management award for projects between Rs. 500-2000 crore and above Rs. 2000 crore respectively for 2010. For 2009 in Project Management (Rs. 500-2000 crore) a Special Commendation was conferred on Petronet LNG Limited.

The Refinery of the Year award was bagged by Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited for 2010 and by the Guwahati Refinery of IndianOil for 2009. For Oil & Gas Pipeline Transportation the 2010 award went to GAIL (India) Limited and the 2009 award to Oil India Limited. A special commendation had also been conferred in this category to Gujarat State Petronet LNG Limited in 2007.

The Oil & Gas Marketing Company of the year award for 2010 went to BPCL and for 2009 to Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL). The Human Resources Management Company for 2010 was BPCL while for 2009 it was HPCL.

The Environmental sustainability Company of the Year award, instituted in 2010 for the first time, was bagged by BPCL while the award for Drilling Services went to Shiv-Vani Oil & Gas Exploration Services.

The Awards were also given in various other categories like the Innovator of the Year and the Woman Executive of the Year including special commendations in this category.

The Awards have been instituted by the Association of Oil & Gas Companies of India named Petroleum Federation of India.
