IOC seals six petrol pumps in Barak Valley
Guwahati   24-May-2011

The IndianOil (IOC) has sealed six petrol pumps across Barak Valley for adulteration. These petrol pumps include Saradacharan Dey at Lala in Hailakandi district, Tribeni in Silchar, Shymala Das and three others.

As per information, a representative team suddenly visited some of the petrol pumps in Barak Valley on May 19. The team noticed that six petrol pumps were adulterating petrol and diesel with kerosene.

On the other hand, Barak Velley Petroleum Dealers Association (BVPDA) has threatened an indefinite strike from May 23 if the petrol pumps are not reopened. In all, forty petrol pumps will go on strike. In this connection, the association has given a memorandum to the divisional manager.

The association further said that it has been asking for market kit from the ministry concerned for detection of adulteration in petrol pumps, but to no avail. The petrol pumps in Barak Valley are being harassed by the ministry concerned and harming the image of the petrol pumps, it alleged.
