Productivity Week gets under way at IndianOil’s Guwahati Refinery

Like previous years, the Productivity Week is being observed at Guwahati Refinery from February 12 to 18 along with rest of the country with this year's theme 'Productivity for Sustainable Development'. The week started with hoisting of the flag by the Executive Director, Guwahati Refinery G Bhanumurthy at a function organised in the lawn of the Administrative Building. Addressing the gathering Bhanumurthy said that the importance of quality of product and services to the customers keeping in view of the statutory requirement. He also said that newly installed Effluent Treatment Plant for improving the quality of treated effluent and reuse of effluent water in coke cutting and fire fighting will reduce the pollution to a minimum level and less amount of water discharge to river Brahmaputra. He also informed about the plans of Guwahati Refinery to install Reverse Osmosis (RO) Plant to reduce effluent generation quality to great extent and further utilizing it for dematerialized water generation, which will also reduce the fresh water, requirements. Mentioning about this year productivity theme he highlighted the various efforts made by the Guwahati Refinery to conserve the atmosphere by installing Ambient and Stack Monitoring Systems including SOx and NOx analyzers, treatment of accumulated sludge, installation of Fare Gas Recovery System and use of low sulphur fuel oil, taking up of installation of ISOM unit for producing low Sulphur MS. S K Dhargupta, DGM (P&U) read out the message of Director (Refineries) to commemorate the observance of productivity week. Earlier R K Sharma, chief manager (MS & Training), welcomed the gathering and informed about the various programmes such as essay, slogan, suggestion, debate competitions for employees, training programme by Central Board of-Workers Education (CBWE), computer training, painting competition for children and organizing drama on the theme. Employees present on the occasion also took the Productivity Week pledge for enhancement of productivity and to treat productivity as the way of their life. The pledge was administered in Assamese, Hindi and English by Biren Kalita, secretary; RWU, Hiten Bora, secretary, 1OOA and ED, Guwahati Refinery G Bhanumurthy.
