Fuel shortage: IOCL comes to the rescue
Goa   24-Aug-2011

The IndianOil (IOCL) depot in Vasco provided succour to its rival fuel companies, in a desperate bid to quell panic buying of fuel in the State.

According to Mumbai-based IOC PRO Ajit More, IOC supplied 15 tankers of fuel each to HPCL and BPCL on Monday, while 18 tankers of fuel were each supplied to the two fuel companies on Tuesday.

"There is sufficient fuel stock for more than 30 days and there is no need to panic," More said.

It was learnt that in a mutual understanding with IOC and HPCL on Tuesday evening, a shipment of HPCL that arrived in Mormugao Port would supply around 2,000 kilo litres of petrol to the IOC depot petrol storage tank, which has acapacity of 7000 kilo litres.

"The 2000 KL is more than sufficient for the next eight days," sources told Herald.

Sources added that HPCL and BPCL could also avail of fuel stocks from the depots at Belgaum and Miraj.
