IndianOil and CSI-NE Chapter celebrates World Heart Day

Guwahati Refinery in association with North East Chapter Cardiological Society of India organized the World Heart Day at Guwahati on Thursday.

As part fo the programme, a run for heart was held at 6 am from refinery sector II township field, Noonmati to Bamunimaidam which was flagged off by BP Das , General Manager Guwahati Refinery and Pranjal Saikia, noted folm personality of Assam.

In his inaugural speech, Das stressed on the need of healthy life style in work place and home so as to prevent heart disease in the community. The importance of the World Heart Day and its theme was explained by Dr A K Sarma of Guwahati Refinery, the organising secretary of the programme. The theme of this year’s World Heart day is “One World, One Home and One Herat”.

The run for heart was followed by a First Aid training on Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) mock drill for cardiac arrest victim demonstrated by staff of emergency 108 vehicle. Other programmes like mass dancing and aerobics was conducted by Ajay Malakar and his team for healthy kufestyle enthusiasts. A mass laughter programme initiated by Pranjal Saikia and his wife Purnima Saikia, the noted film artists of Assam, caught the attention of all the people gathered and soon everyone joined the programme which apart frpm being fun was also a good form of exercise for the heart. Apart from members of CSI-NE Chapter, members of GR family, NEISO, Lions Club of Narangi, Guahati Refinery High Dchool and noted cardiologists and eminent physicians of Guwahati joined this programme. Around 400 people along with students, employees and spouse actively participated in this health awareness programme.
