IndianOil restores LPG distribution
Chennai   24-Oct-2011

Oil major IndianOil has restored supply of Indane liquified petroleum gas cylinders from Saturday night.

The supply of cooking gas cylinders to the city was affected in the last few days after truck drivers went on a strike at the oil corporation's bottling plant at Manali. Bottling was disrupted at Ennore and Chengelpet also for a few hours.

A company official said that trucks had started to move consignments of LPG cylinders from bottling plants at Manali and Ennore. Sources said the corporation and agencies engaged drivers on temporary contracts to transport the cylinders to meet the demand during the festival season. "With Diwali just two days away, some agencies have started to bring in their vehicles to take the cylinders as demand has shot up. It will take a couple of days for the agencies to clear the backlog," said an official.

The three plants together bottle around 50,000 cylinders a day while the demand for cylinders in the city is around 45,000 a day.
