New Delhi   13-May-2013

Ennore Port will be able to lease 5.2 lakh sq m of land to a joint venture led by IndianOil for setting up a LNG storage and regasification plant at the port. This follows the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs approving the proposal at its meeting here on Thursday. The meeting also approved a proposal to set up a port each at Visakhapatnam and Sagar Island in West Bengal through public-private partnership route.

The revival of five closed units of Fertiliser Corporation of India, including the units at Talcher, Ramagundam, Sindhri, Gorakhpur and Korba, also got the CCEA nod, with the panel approving the waiver of loans worth Rs 10,664 crore.

The Union Cabinet, which also met on Thursday, gave its consent to declaring 2013 as ‘Water Conservation Year,’ during which a number of awareness activities will be undertaken to sensitise the people to water-related issues, apart from encouraging them to conserve and use the resource judiciously.
