Eco-innovation award for Bongaigaon Refinery

Bongaigaon Refinery bagged the Golden Peacock Eco-Innovation Award 2013, given by the Institute of Directors (IOD), an apex body of company directors and CEOs, for corporate excellence. The award was presented by M Veerappa Moily, Union minister for petroleum and natural gas at the 15th World Congress on Environment Management on July 19 in New Delhi.

The award was received by the executive director of Bongaigaon Refinery, A Saran, in the presence of GM (HSE) R K Sharma, DGM (Production) MN Das and CM (HSE) AK Agarwal of Bongaigaon Refinery.

It is the only refinery to have won the coveted trophy in the eco-innovation category for 'treating industrial storm water in a natural way: an innovative eco-initiative'. The refinery had also bagged the oil and safety award for 2011-12 under the 'best overall safety performance refineries' category on July 19 in New Delhi. The award was instituted by the oil industry safety directorate, ministry of petroleum and natural gas.

Also present were Lakshmi Panabaka, minister of state for petroleum and natural gas and RS Butola, IndianOil chairman.
