New Delhi 28-Jul-2008
IndianOil, Karnataka has said that it had kept pace with the increased demand for diesel in the State by transshipping 9,500 kilo litres during the year to Bengaluru alone, registering an increase of 80 per cent over the previous year's aver- age sales during July. For the entire State the supplies have risen by 45 per cent over the same period last year. Allaying fears of any shortage of the fuel, Mr B. Ashok, State Level Coordinator for Oil Industry, Karnataka and General Manager, IndianOil, Karnataka, on behalf of IndianOil, Bharat Petroleum and Hindustan Petroleum, said in a statement that full demand of the State were being met by the companies. Against a normal anticipated growth of about 12-15 per cent over the previous year's sale during the same period, the growth during the current month in diesel sales for the oil industry has been around 30 per cent for the entire State and 32 per cent for Bengaluru. Meeting Requirements Despite the severe logistic constraints, the oil companies have been meeting the full requirements of Bengaluru Karnataka, Mr Ashok said. "There is no cause for any panic and we assure the customers that the full requirements of Bengaluru City are being met and hence customers are requested not to resort to panic buying since it would aggravate the situation and lead to avoidable dry-outs at retail outlets," he said.
