IndianOil offers to meet SAARC region's fuel demand
New Delhi   16-Oct-2008
IndianOil has offered to meet all of the fuel deficit in SAARC region by expanding some its existing refineries. SAARC nations, including Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Nepal are projected to have a fuel deficit of 17.05 million tonnes by 2015. The Energy Research Institute, who was asked by the SAARC secretariat to suggest ways for meeting the demand, proposed a regional refinery of 23 million tonnes capacity. But IndianOil said a single-location refinery would not be economically viable to meet the demand of the region.
