The 11th Apex Body meeting was held recently at R&D Centre to review key R&D activities and deliberate on future plans. The meeting was chaired by Mr. M. A. Pathan, former Chairman, IndianOil & Strategic Advisor, IOTL, and was attended by Mr. B. P. Das, ED (i/c), R&D Centre, Dr R. K.  Malhotra, former Chairman and Director (R&D), IndianOil, Mr. Anil Razdan, former Secretary, Ministry of Power; Mr. S. N. Dash, Member Odisha Administrative Tribunal and former Secretary, Ministry of Heavy Industries, Dr. Balraj Bhanot, Chairman, Transport Engineering Council, BIS, Prof. Devang V. Khakhar, Director, IIT Bombay and Independent Director on IndianOil Board, Mr. V.K. Agarwal, former Chairman, Railway Board, Dr. Mathew Abraham, Senior General Manager, Mahindra & Mahindra R&D, Prof. Ashok K. Ganguly Director, Institute of Nano Science & Technology, Dr. S. J. Chopra, Vice Chancellor, UPES and Mr. Anand Kumar, former Director (R&D), IndianOil. The newly appointed members Dr. R.K. Malhotra, Dr Mathew Abraham and Prof. Ashok K. Ganguly were formally welcomed by Mr. Pathan.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. B.P. Das shared the recent highlights and significant developments of R&D Centre, such as the agreement with M/s Lummus, USA for licensing of Indmax technology, collaboration with Lanzatech, major OEM approvals received, National Award for Technology Innovation by Ministry of Chemical and Fertilisers, Govt. of India, in the category of Research in the field of Polymer Science & Technology.

During the meeting, Mr. G.K. Acharya, GM (Technology Promotion & Forecasting & Pipeline Research), IndianOil R&D, presented the status of MoU with the Govternment for the year 2014-15 and 2015-16. He made a presentation on “Recent Efforts for Commercialization of IndianOil R&D Products and Services”.  Dr S.S.V. Ramakumar, GM (Automotive Oils & Nanotechnology), IndianOil R&D, outlined the initiatives taken by R&D in area of Nanotechnology and Energy Efficient Lubricants. He shared the status on future land requirement for R&D expansion. The current status of i-CARE (including Fuel Cell lab at Gwal Pahari) and Catalyst Plant was presented by Mr. Alok Sharma, DGM (AE) and Dr. Mohan K. Prabhu, DGM (Catalyst) respectively.

All the Apex Group members appreciated the presentations and the research projects undertaken by IndianOil R&D scientists and advised to set a benchmark in research projects.
