IndianOil hosts 33rd Inter Unit Hockey Tournament in Jalandhar

IndianOil is hosting 33rdPetroleum Sports Promotion Board (PSPB) Inter Unit Hockey Tournament in Jalandhar from March 8 to 12, 2015. Mr. P. K. Das, Executive Director, PSO inaugurated the tournament at PAP Ground, Jalandhar in the presence of national and international hockey players participating from various teams of Oil Industry.

Addressing the media in a press conference, Mr. S. S. Bapat, Executive Director (Corporate Communication & Branding), HO, said, “It is a privilege for the Corporation to host such a prestigious event”. He added further that IndianOil has always been the frontrunner in promoting sports and has on its rolls several renowned sportspersons of both National and International reputation. Total five teams are participating in the tournament out of which two teams are from IndianOil and the other three teams are from ONGC, BPCL and EIL.

The tournament will determine the Petroleum Sector Hockey Team Championship. IndianOil ‘B’ team won the inaugural mach, played with EIL, with a margin of 3-1. Mr. Kamlesh Parihar, Mr. Lakwinder Singh and Mr. Shamshu Zuha scored one goal each.

The tournament will feature some of India’s prominent National Hockey players like Mr. V. R. Raghunath, Mr. Dharamvir Singh, Mr. S. K. Uthapa and Mr. Kothajit Singh from IndianOil, Mr. Mandeep Singh, Mr. Divakar Ram and Mr. Harpal Singh from ONGC and Mr. S. V. Sunil, Mr. Virendra Lakhra, Mr. Tushar Khandekar and Mr. Harmanpreet Singh from BPCL.
